A little portion of Sannio is called “cubante”, a word derived from the Latin recubans (rest). Actually the ancient inhabitants of the area used to stay in this place to rest from a long journey... It is not difficult to imagine Roman and Carthaginian soldiers pass through these lands heading to Campania region and Benevento.
The path was obliged and Appia road, that passed through these areas, was the only available road leading to Rome. For this reason, Federico II installed his soldiers in cubante region, the natural border between Pope’s Reign and his own. His Castle, whose imposing structure still dominates the hill, was probably destined to be a loca solatiorum (shooting lodge), being surrounded by a luxurious wood. It also boasted a privileged position overlooking Appia road where nothing could pass unnoticed to the Emperor’s eye. The Castle was the only structure not attached to Santa Sofia.
It is exactly in cubante region that stands this splendid farm house. It dates back to the XIX century and has been totally restored. Here, my husband and I breed our horses and maremmani dogs. In this place I proposed to small groups of people (up to 8) to rest a few days in order to visit the beauties of the region.

Our sommelier will welcome you in our cellar where you will taste the most popular Italian wines. The chef will cook delicious dishes explaining you some secrets of local cuisine.

Carlo di Naples theatre and Villa Rufolo a Ravello), to archaeology (night visit to Pompeii excavations; guided tour to the underground part of Naples), to the islands (private yacht leaving from Capri Faraglioni and landing to San Francesco a Ischia beach) and the surroundings of Naples.
