Holiday in Tanzania
Zanzibar is a major tourist destination in the Indian Ocean.
The territory of Zanzibar is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean off the coast of eastern Tanzania, a few degrees south of the equator. It consists of two main islands, Unguja (also known as "Island of Zanzibar) to the south and Pemba in the north, and over forty smaller islands, all considerably smaller, some of which are uninhabited.
The archipelago has, inter alia, long beaches and tropical reefs, historical sites and natural areas. The proximity of Kenya and mainland Tanzania, which have a tourist industry already well underway, also favors the influx of tourists to Zanzibar.
The geographical location also makes Zanzibar one of the "tropical paradise" more accessible to Europeans. The tourism industry is developing rapidly both in and around Stone Town is on the east coast, and some beaches, like that of Jambiani, in recent years have acquired a high profile at international level.
The Zanzibari cuisine is renowned for his mix of tastes, tradition-bound coastal (fish and seafood) that export agricultural production (spices, tropical fruits).
